[486] ἐΓώ: Gemoll follows Matthiae in writing “ἐγών”, on the ground that there is no “living” digamma in the hymn. Even on this assumption, the later poets certainly tolerated the hiatus which often resulted after the loss of a digamma. On the question of a living digamma see Preface p. lxix f.
