τῆς ἄνω—that related in c. 51. We must remember that ἄνω means on the higher ground away from the Harbour only in a relative sense. See crit. note on c. 2.4. The engagement referred to need not have been, and probably was not, wholly on Epipolae, but, as compared with the fight on the mole and in Lysimeleia, it was ἄνω. See on c. 51.2
