Another name for Circé (q.v.), derived from the name of her birthplace, Αἶα. Her son, Telegonus, the reputed founder of Tusculum, is called Aeaeus.


2.

A name given to Calypso (q.v.), who was said to live in the island of Aeaea between Italy and Sicily.
