ZUCHIS

ZUCHIS (Ζοῦχις, Strab. xvii. p.835), a lake 400 stadia long, with a town of the same name upon it, in Libya, not far from the Lesser Syrtis. Stephanus B. (p. 290) mentions only the town, which, according to Strabo, was noted for its purple dyes and salt fish. It seems to be the place called Χουζίς by Ptolemy (4.3.41.)
