Salapia
Now Salpi. An ancient town of Apulia, in the district Daunia, was situated south of
Sipontum, on a lake named after it. It is not mentioned till the Second Punic War, when it
revolted to Hannibal after the battle of Cannae; but it subsequently surrendered to the
Romans, and delivered to the latter the Carthaginian garrison stationed in the town.
