Aethiŏpis

Αἰθιοπίς). An epic in five books by Arctinus of Miletus, one of the Cyclic poets, said to have been a pupil of Homer. The poem covers the portion of the Trojan War from the death of Hector to the death of Achilles. The heroine is Penthesilea (q.v.). This poem was by some added to the Iliad by a modification of the last line. See Cyclic Poets; Epos; Trojan War.
