VI´NTIUM

VI´NTIUM (Οὐίντιον: Vence), in Gallia Narbonensis, the chief town of the Nerusii. [NERUSII.] Inscriptions have been found at Vence with the words CIVIT. VINT.; and in the Notitia of the Gallic Provinces it is placed in the Alpes Maritimae under the name of Civitas Vintiensium or [p. 2.1312]Venciensium. Vence is in the department of Var, near the river Var. (D'Anville, Notice, &c.)
