DRYNAE´METUM

DRYNAE´METUM (ὁ Δρυναίμετος), a place in that part of Asia called Galatia, which the Galli occupied. Strabo (p. 567) says that the council of the twelve tetrarchs, consisting of 300 men, used to meet at Drynaemetum. The first part of the word may be Gallic, and the second seems to contain, the same element as the names Nemetocenna, or Nemetacum, Nemausus, and Nemossus in Gallia.
