Cyropŏlis

Κυρόπολις). A large city of Asia, on the banks of the Iaxartes, founded by Cyrus. It was also called Cyreschata. Alexander destroyed it, and built in its stead a city, called by the Roman geographers Alexandrea Ultima, by the Greeks, Ἀλεξανδρεία Ἐσχάτη, of which the Latin is a translation.
