Vindicatio
In Roman law, the name given to an action (
actio) of the class known
as “real” (
in rem) or one relating to the title to
ownership (
dominium). The word is opposed to
condictio, which is applied to a “personal” action (
in personam) or actions for the enforcement of obligations arising from contract or
debit (
Gaius, iv. 2-5). See
