Vindicatio

In Roman law, the name given to an action (actio) of the class known as “real” (in rem) or one relating to the title to ownership (dominium). The word is opposed to condictio, which is applied to a “personal” action (in personam) or actions for the enforcement of obligations arising from contract or debit (Gaius, iv. 2-5).
