Mediae Murus

（τὸ Μηδίας τεῖχος). An artificial wall which ran from the Euphrates to the Tigris, at the point where they approach nearest, and divided Mesopotamia from Babylonia. It is described by Xenophon ( Anab. ii. 4) as being 20 parasangs long Anab., 100 feet high, and 20 thick, and as built of baked bricks, cemented with asphalt. Its erection was ascribed to Semiramis.
