Hyantes

Ὕαντες). The ancient inhabitants of Boeotia, from which country they were expelled by the Cadmeans. Part of the Hyantes emigrated to Phocis, where they founded Hyampolis and part to Aetolia. The poets use the adjective Hyantius as equivalent to Boeoticus.
