Bonam Copiam Iurāre
A phrase expressive of the act of taking an oath to one's solvency (Varro,
L.
L. vii. 105). The expression used by Cicero (
Ad Fam. ix. 16),
bonam copiam eiurare, is usually interpreted to mean the taking of an oath by
a debtor to the fact of his insolvency. See
