WYOMPONT
Belgium.
A Gallo-Roman vicus
located at the place where the Arlon-Tongres road
crosses the Ourthe. Systematic excavations have never
been undertaken there, but public works have on several
occasions cut into foundations of various sorts. Potsherds,
pieces of frescos, etc. have been found. In 1851 the
remains of a villa were partially examined at a short distance from the vicus proper. Six rooms were cleared, two of which were built over a hypocaust and had mosaic pavings. Some tombs have been found at various times near the vicus and the villa.
