CASTLE GREG Midlothian, Scotland.

A Roman fortlet midway between Castledykes and Cramond. Still in an excellent state of preservation, it is defended by a rampart and double ditches, and has a single entrance facing E. It was excavated in 1852, but the objects found were inadequately published and have since been lost. In size (0.29 ha) the fortlet resembles the 1st c. Roman fortlet at Gatehouse of Fleet, which was garrisoned by a centuria.
