HIPPO'CRATESM

3. Is mentioned in several modern works as a comic poet on the authority of Pollux (Onom. 9.57; comp. 4.173); but it is now certain that the reading in Pollux is corrupt, and that the name Σωσικράτης must be substituted for it. (See Meineke, Hist. Crit. Com. Graec. p. 498, &c.)
