He said, βουλεύσομαι: the fut. opt. here, as always, being the oblique of the fut. ind. after a secondary tense. καθομολογήσας, κ.τ.λ. ‘concluded an agreement with us, and gave us pledges on the Acropolis’ (by taking an oath in one of the temples: cp. on § 40). — διαψεύδ. — διδόναι, oblique pres. rather than imperf.: ‘fail to keep our word or to pay’: as ἥκειν for ἥκω rather than ἧκον.
