HAMAXO´BII

Eth. HAMAXO´BII (Eth. Ἁμαξόβιοι, 3.5.19; Iamblich. de Abstin. 3.15; Pomp. Mel. 2.1.2; Plin. Nat. 6.12; Steph. B. sub voce Ἄβιοι), a people of Sarmatia, situated to the E. of the Scythian Alauni, who wandered with their waggons along the banks of the Volga, and belonged to the Sarmatian stock.
