CAE´NICA
CAE´NICA (
Καινική), the name of one of the districts into which Thrace was divided by the Romans.
It was situated on the Euxine (
Ptol. 3.11.9), and probably derived its name from the Thracian tribe of the CAENI or CAENICI, who dwelt between the Panysus and the Euxine. (
Liv. 38.40;
Steph. B. sub voce Καινοί.)
