CACYRUM
CACYRUM (
Κάκυρον: Eth.
Cacyrinus), a town in Sicily, mentioned only by Pliny and Ptolemy, who afford no clue to its position.
But it is supposed by Cluverius to be represented by the modern
Caesaro, about 4 miles N. of
Palazzolo, the ancient Acrae. (
Plin. Nat. 3.8. s. 14;
Ptol. 3.4.14; Cluver.
Sicil. p. 359.)
