Hyantes
(
Ὕαντες). The ancient inhabitants of Boeotia, from which
country they were expelled by the Cadmeans. Part of the Hyantes emigrated to Phocis, where
they founded Hyampolis and part to Aetolia. The poets use the adjective Hyantius as equivalent
to Boeoticus.
