ἄγχι^ , Poet. Adv. of place,
A.near, Il.5.185, Od.3.449, etc.:—freq. c. gen., which sts. precedes, “Ἕκτορος ἄ.” Il.8.117, cf. Od.4.370; but usu. follows, “ἄ. νεῶν” Il.10.161, etc.; “ἄ. πελαγίας ἁλός” A.Pers.467; “ἄ. πλευμόνων” Id.Ch.639 ; “ἄ. γῆς” S.OC399.
2. of Time, “ἄ. γὰρ ἀμέρα” Sapph.Supp.19.7.
II. of resemblance, like, c. dat., Pi. N.6.9.—For Comp. and Sup. v. ἆσσον, ἄγχιστος.
