2. rich tract of land sacred to the gods: such a tract between Athens and Megara, sacred to Demeter and Persephone, was specially called ἡ ὀ. or ἱερὰ ὀ., D.13.32, Call.Fr.35 P., Plu.Per.30, Paus.3.4.2, cf. IG22.204.8,16 ; similarly perh. ὀργή in Herod.4.46 (s.v.l.).
