κατα-κλείω , old Att. κατα-κλῄω Th. (v. infr.): a rare fut. κατακλιῶ dub. in Eup.287, cf. HeroBel.107.13:—Med., aor.
2. metaph., νόμῳ κ. shut up, i.e. compel, oblige, “ἂν . . πᾶσαν τὴν δύναμιν νόμῳ κατακλείσητε ἐπὶ τῷ πολέμῳ μένεινD.4.33, cf. And.3.7, Antiph.190.15.
II. c.acc.rei, shut up, close, “τὰς πυλίδαςHdt.1.191; “τά ἱράId.2.124, cf. 128 (Pass.); “τὸ ἐργαστήριονId.4.14; “τὸν δίφρονX.Cyr.6.4.10; “εὑρὼν ἅπαντα κατακεκλῃμέναAr.Pl.206:—in Pass., of humours in the body, Hp.Loc.Hom. 27.
2. clamp down, make fast, of stones in masonry, IG7.3073.158(Lebad.); also κ. [τὴν δεξιάν] Luc.Prom.2.
3. close a speech, conclude, D.L.10.138; εἰς ἀπειλὴν κ. τὸν λόγον with a threat, D.H. 7.14, cf. A.D.Synt.234.17; οὐ κ. διάνοιαν give no complete sense, Id.Adv.119.6 (δ. shd. be supplied, Id.Synt.179.13); conclude an argument or inference, Phld.Sign.15,33.
